Is Bark Box Worth It? A Monthly Subscription Box For Your Dog

We love our pups so much, they deserve 'pawesome' goodies too! If you're familiar with Ipsy, this is a monthly subscription box for dogs (instead of beauty products for yourself) filled with all natural treats and toys. Thank you Influenster, btw, for introducing me to BarkBox.

Give your pup his or her very first box by using my referral link!

We all know that our furry family members deserve only the best. They've gotta get bored from the same old food and same old toy day after day. That's why when I first heard about Bark Box, I was completely drawn to signing up. I had no idea these boxes existed for my baby boy!

Let me keep it real with you. I canceled after our third box and here's why.

Each month your pup get's exactly two toys, two treat bags and one special chewy treat like a bone. Now, don't get me wrong. They are all amazingly cute and yummy, according to my baby's taste buds. However, within three months, he had six plush toys he barely touched and treats that are going to last us months.

Bark Box currently offers the following plans:

Honestly, I would recommend you pay the most expensive box, the 1 month for $29, as a trial run before you commit.

I absolutely love the presentation of each box. Each month is a different theme and the toys match the theme. For instance, one month was a Beach theme and the plush toys were a coconut and a toucan and the other month was a Knight and Castle theme. Each toy runs for $10 to $16 on their direct shop and the treat bags about $8. You really are getting a great deal for all you get for roughly $25!

However, the items month after month were getting a bit redundant. I suggest the boxes include more useful items, such as shampoos, nail clippers, wipes, trash baggies and items along those lines. I understand there's a budget, but maybe they could offer more flexibility in customizing the boxes to each person's needs.

I do recommend Bark Box for those who can afford it, but I don't agree with having to commit to 6 or 12 month subscriptions to get a lower price. 6 or 12 can seem like too much for some people, such as myself. At least offer the cheapest introductory price and then allow for someone to fully commit. I got tricked the very first time with the "Get your first month free" without realizing I had committed to being billed monthly for the next six months. Luckily, customer service was understanding enough to allow me to cancel before then. You should have the freedom to skip a month or cancel at any time, just as how many subscription boxes work.

In the end, and most importantly, my dog really did love what he got. I have never seen him play with a toy as much as he has with the Bark Box ball he got. No joke. He fetches this blue, soft octopus-looking ball nonstop, whereas I throw him one of his other toys, he'll stop and stare at me after the second round. And the bone, he devoured that in one sitting on Christmas Eve.
